It’s really an interesting time to be a Star Trek fan. With the 50th anniversary of the franchise looming on the horizon in September of 2016, it’s just the sort of event that begs fans to look back on the long history of its fandom. We here at CompleteSet will be doing just that in the months ahead, because Star Trek matters. Set aside the inspiration and curiosity it fostered in our space and scientific community, there is an undeniable legacy that Roddenberry’s ideas have had on pop culture and, to an extent, the broader collectible culture which we will explore.

Today, we’re ending the year celebrating one of the most iconic individuals of the entire Star Trek universe: Spock! This wonderful, green blooded Vulcan (originally portrayed by Leonard Nimoy) was an early standout character for the original series and love for all things Spock has only grown year after year. With new films and television series on the horizon, his legacy will most certainly live long and prosper.

In celebration of the character, Mezco’s One:12 Collective has unveiled a new Spock action figure that is available for pre-order now and looks utterly logical!

If you are unfamiliar with the One:12 Collective, Mezco has been catching a lot of collector praise for their offerings in this brand’s line. With a focus on innovation, Mezco has fused modern articulation with quality cloth accessories to a degree that could go head-to-head against any other 1/12 scale toy maker. These are truly beautiful figures, but let’s let the imagery speak for itself here!

Official details look strong as the interchangeable tidbits included really add to the flexibility in representing the character in various ways…

“The One:12 Collective is proud to present one of the most iconic and enduring characters in the pop culture lexicon: Spock from the original Star Trek series.

First introduced to audiences in 1966, the Star Trek series was a landmark show that sparked countless fans’ a love of science, space and technology, and inspired many real world inventions. Spock, powerfully portrayed by Leonard Nimoy in both the TV series and in the film franchises, embodied a new kind of TV hero: calmly logical, and cerebral but not completely devoid of human emotion. Spock has transcended his genre and has been voted one of the “50 Greatest TV Characters” and has recently had a mountain named after him on Pluto. Digitally modeled to craft an uncanny actor likeness and assembled on a One:12 Collective body with over 28 points of articulation, this figure features a series accurate outfit to create an amazing collectable.

It doesn’t matter which side of the fence you find yourself on in the debate over the new trailer or whether or not the new television series should be a CBS All Access exclusive, there is a love for Star Trek that is now cross-generational and it shows no signs of slowing. I for one am a fan of the entire franchise and can’t wait to write about it more as the big 50th approaches!
